FORMATIVE APPROACH // PRINCIPLES OF ASSESSMENT FOR LEARNING

We are still working on unit 5. Today we have being reading and talking about the formative approach and the 10 principles of assessment for learning.

It is true that I knew what formative assessment was, as I have been studying one semester in England and this type of assessment was used there. Formative assessment is focussed on the process of learning, and it helps the students to give them feedback of how they work is going on. But I didn't know that there were 10 principles of assessment for learning. They are very useful in order to be effective, to focus on pupils' learning, to gain pupils' motivation and to give a constructive feedback among other things.

I really like the sessions we are having of unit 5 as in my opinion assessment and evaluation is essential in our lives as teachers. I want to continue learning more and more about this unit that will help me to become a better teacher.
