Some days ago, the teacher told us to do a group project about the different methods the teachers can use in their classes. We were divided into ten groups and each one had one of the methods, what means that this unit was developed by all of us.
As the situation we are living is very strange, and some students cannot come to class because of covid-19, the teacher decided that we have to present the project with a video, we had to record ourselves in our houses and then merge all the videos in one, for finally seeing it in class all together.
In that way, today we have seen nine videos and ours.
We presented our method to the classroom, that was "Direct Method". The main characteristics and rules of this methods are:
- No translation.
- Use only the target language by visual aids.
- Don't use the native language.
In my opinion, it is a good way to present a unit for many reasons:
- Students learn better as they have to understand and study the method in order to present it and teach it to the classroom.
- Students also learn better from their classmates' projects as it is an unusual activity and they are more focus.
- Students develop their speaking skill and they can also do a self-evaluation, as they can watch them in the video and evaluate how they did it.
- Students develop the digital competence too, because they have to record themselves and then merge all the videos.
We have to be innovative and original!!!!!!
